Senior Wellness: First Aid 101

Class participants will learn basic first aid assessment and skills including how to be "calm under pressure" and assist others in an emergency.

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - The Caregiver Resource Network is a collaboration of over 150 agencies committed to helping family caregivers by operating a website providing caregivers with an extensive catalog of resources including caregiver support groups, articles and audio files on popular caregiver support topics.

The Caregiver Resource Network also initiated Family Caregiver University which provides monthly classes on caregiving topics like fall prevention and safety, understanding dementia, and bathing and personal hygiene.

The next Family Caregiver University class: First Aid 101: First Aid for the Non-Medically Minded takes place Oct. 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Area Agency on Aging located at 3215 Eaglecrest Dr. in Grand Rapids.

Class participants will learn basic first aid assessment and skills including how to be "calm under pressure" and assist others in an emergency.

This session will discuss signs, symptoms and interventions for a variety of conditions such as stroke, heart attack, diabetes and more.
