GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - One in six seniors struggle with hunger in our country.
In a effort to combat those numbers, there's a program that not only provides warm meals but also provides a friendly visit to someone who may not get many visitors.
Staci Gerken is a Registered Dietitian with the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan. She joined the WZZM 13 Noon News to tell us about Meals on Wheels.
In Kent County alone, over 2,400 older adults receive Meals on Wheels each year.
To find out if a loved one qualifies or for volunteer opportunities, contact Meals on Wheels Western Michigan (formally Senior Meals Program) at (616)459-3111 or by clicking here.
