Michigan's state superintendent paid a visit to West Michigan on Thursday.

Brian Whiston stopped at Northview High School to learn more about the school's program for deaf and hard of hearing students.

He visits at least one Michigan school district each month and meets with teachers and students.

"It's kind of a listening and learning tour," Whiston said. "What we want to do is take the good things the districts are doing and create a warehouse so that other districts facing the same challenges can say, 'Oh, this district is dealing with the same issue, and here's the success they're having.' We want to learn from schools and share it with other schools to help them be successful."
