GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Child abuse rates continue to climb across the county. It affects thousands of children in Kent County alone each year.
This weekend, a local organization making an effort to help put a stop to abuse.
WZZM 13's Angela Cunningham talked with Susan Shannon, the executive director with the Children's Assessment Center, at the American Legion Auxiliary Post 459 about a blind auction.
Folks at the post are known for getting involved with efforts to help the most vulnerable of our communities.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and that something auxiliary members have taken serious for years.
The 11th Annual Blind Auction will take place Saturday, April 9 at 3 p.m.
Post 459 is located at 658 Michigan NE in Grand Rapids.
