Books for Texas

Kent District Library is collecting materials for a library impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

While it has been several months since Hurricane Harvey hit the United States, communities in Texas are still in the middle of the cleanup process. Kent District Library is teaming up with other libraries in Michigan to fill the shelves of a library in Texas that lost a majority of its collection due to Hurricane Harvey. The library in Port Arthur, Texas lost many of their materials due to flooding and are hoping to re-open in March, 2018.

Brian Mortimore, Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development, stopped by to tell us more about the Books for Texas campaign. Through December 30th, all KDL branches will be collecting new or gently used books, DVDs, and CDs for the Port Arthur Public Library.
