One Good Thing: Sawyer's Christmas Stocking Project

What's better than One Good Thing? How about 2,000 good things?!?

8-year-old Sawyer Hendrickson of Ludington is attempting to send that many Christmas stocking care packages to U.S. service members stationed all around the world. As of today, she's actually over 22-hundred! Sawyer's brother is in the Marines overseas. Her mother, Heather, tells me how it all began. She wanted to do something to keep him in her mind and heart. First, she sent Thanksgiving pies to soldiers. Then, the 'Christmas Stocking Project' got going. She got a 'Go Fund Me' page going to help with the finances. And - again - she's close to reaching her goal of two-thousand stockings mailed out. And here are a few final stats. She's sent out to 40 U-S bases in seven different countries, including all branches of the military.

Now, if Sawyer's name rings a bell, that's because we've profiled her and her Girl Scout troop before for the work they do for veterans. But, this one is all Sawyer, under her operation - "Kids with a Cause." And in addition to active troops, she's sent cards and stockings to...

the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier," President Trump, his family, and his personal detail that protects him. By the way, I just found out Sawyer's stocking to the president is in the oval office today!

My only regret is I couldn't get this up sooner to help with that Go Fund Me page. But, clearly, Sawyer has all this taken care of. And, she gets today's One Good Thing. Good job, Sawyer!
