It's breakfast time! What did you choose this morning? Eggs, pancakes, cereal? Maybe cold pizza?
Midwesterners love their cold pizza for breakfast. About 45 percent would choose that over anything else -- but cold cereal comes in second at 35 percent.
On this National Cereal Day, there is one name brand that come out on top. Cheerios!
Here's why they are a winner: They’re low in saturated fat, cholesterol free, help lower cholesterol because they are made of whole grain oats, and they are low in sugar.
When it comes choosing a healthy cereal it comes down to reading labels.
Trying to pick the healthiest cereal? Here’s want you want to look for:
- Fewer than 10 grams of sugar
- Least 3 grams of fiber
- 3 grams of protein
Be sure to stick to the one cup serving and low-fat milk or almond milk if you are looking to cut down on sugar.
