MUSKEGON, Mich. - Muskegon Public School's board held a special meeting Tuesday, April 24, but the seven members did not make any decisions relating to the 2018-2019 budget.

The school board needs to trim around $1.5 million from their budget.

Part of the district's financial challenges stem from enrollment declines. Some parents also blame the problems on raises some school administrators recently received.

The district's superintendent told parents a proposal to close school buildings to save money is off the table at this time.

Another special meeting to discuss the budget is planned for May 3 at the Hackley Administration Building.
