A West Michigan man is in a coma after being seriously injured in an accident in Colorado.
Keegan Harp, a well-known health and fitness advocate in the Fruitport area, remains in a Colorado hospital after being seriously injured in a snowboarding accident. His family has left West Michigan to stay by his side and those in the community are doing what they can to help.
"Knowing Keegan, Norton Pines is a huge family to him and health and fitness is a huge part of his life, so its so good to see everyone come together to just be there for him and his family," Tara Beishuizen said.
Harp was a member of Norton Pines Athletic Club before he moved to Colorado for the winter. Last month, Keegan was snowboarding when friends say he took a devastating fall. The 22-year-old was transported to the hospital and remains in a coma but Beishuizen says he is in stable condition.
On Sunday, Norton Pines hosted a Family Fun Day to support the young man and his family during this tough time.
"It's a good chance for everyone to come together in times of need as we are now and all the families can hang out and support Keegan and his family," Beishuizen said.
It was an opportunity to give to a person that means so much and a reminder to cherish what you have.
"Hug your loved ones, because you just never know," she added.
