Canceled: DREAMers rally set to take place in Grandville on Wednesday

The DACA rally will take place outside Congressman Bill Huizenga's office in Grandville to demand his support for introduced legislation that would provide for permanent residency and a path to citizenship for children brought to the U.S. illegally as children.

The rally has been canceled due to weather conditions - it is now set for Monday, Dec. 18.

A DACA rally is set to take place outside Congressman Bill Huizenga's office in Grandville on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 4:00 p.m.

The purpose of the rally, according to a press release, is to demand his support for introduced legislation that would provide for permanent residency and a path to citizenship for children brought to the U.S. illegally as children.

The bill is HR3440, a.k.a the DREAM Act of 2017 and Huizenga has not yet shown support for it.

DREAM stands for Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors.

Immigrant advocates in West Michigan estimate that more than 7,000 people within Huizenga's district would be affected - should the legislation not get passed.

The rally will take place at 4555 Wilson Ave. SW, across Wilson from Rivertown Crossing mall.
