GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Executives with Kmart's parent company say they will close two Grand Rapids area stores by the end of the year.
The Kmarts at the old North Kent Mall on Plainfield Avenue, and on 68th Street in Byron Center will shut down in mid-December.
Sears Holdings plans to close 68 unprofitable Kmart stores around the country, due to declining sales.
Liquidation sales at the two Grand Rapids area stores will begin next week.
Kmart's other West Michigan locations, including Muskegon, Greenville and Battle Creek, will remain open.
