GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - About 33 people are expected to lose their jobs as several Family Dollar stores are slated to close in West Michigan.
The stores' parent company, Dollar Express through private equity firm Sycamore Partners, announced plans to liquidate and close all of its stores on about June 30, according to documents filed by the company to the state. Six of the stores are in West Michigan.
The stores include:
- 1606 M-139, Benton Harbor
- 1625 Leonard St. NE, Grand Rapids
- 1006 S. Washington Ave., Holland
- 4451 Breton Road SE, Kentwood
- 5003 Westnedge Ave., Portage
- 1540 28th St. SW, Wyoming
The decision to close stores comes as the company made a deal with Dollar General for it to acquire all 323 Dollar Express stores, according to Crain's Detroit Business.
Many stores will be rebranded with Dollar General while others close.
