GRBJ: Supermarket chain taps contractor for projects

WM Aldi stores to be renovated

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - A local contractor is working on renovation and addition projects in West Michigan for an international chain of grocery stores.

Grand Rapids-based A.J. Veneklasen will complete six projects for Aldi, a discount grocer, this year.

Aldi is a repeat client for the firm.

The projects

While no specific project costs were disclosed, the projects are expected to be a multi-million-dollar endeavor.

Renovations will provide a “modern and convenient shopping experience” and focus on larger produce, dairy and bakery selections, according to Aldi.

The projects will also feature “a modern design, open ceilings and natural lighting.”

The projects will be completed after hours to not disrupt shoppers.

A.J. Veneklasen started the projects in January, with the most extensive project expected to finish in late August.
