1 man dead, another in critical condition after a crash in Cass County

MASON TOWNSHIP, MICH. - Authorities are investigating a crash that one man dead and another in critical condition in Cass County Friday night.

The crash happened just after 2 p.m. on Friday on US-12 at Tharp Lake Road in Mason Township. 

According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, 23-year-old Adam Graigo, of Bristol, Indiana, was driving his pick-up truck northbound on Tharp Lake Road when he ran the stop sign and hit David Steven, 22, of Cassopolis. 

Graigo was ejected from his truck, which caught fire, and needed to be airlifted to South Bend Memorial. Deputies found Steven dead at the scene of the crash. 

According to ABC57 News, US-12 was closed down for several hours during the investigation and clean-up, but has since re-opened. 

The crash remains under investigation and deputies are unsure if seat belt or alcohol use are factors in the crash at this time.
