12-year-old boy saves toddler from nearly drowning in hotel pool

UNION TOWNSHIP, MICH. - A quick-thinking 12-year-old boy saved a three-year-old child from nearly drowning after the child had slipped into a hotel swimming pool and was unresponsive.

According to the Isabella County Sheriff's Office, a 3-year-old boy had wandered into the pool area of the Days Inn Tuesday evening and nearly drown. Video of that area showed the toddler slipped on the steps in the pool and went under the water.

The child was under water for about two minutes before a 12-year-old boy visiting from out of town walked in and noticed him. The 12-year-old quickly pulled the child from the water and with his brother's help, carried the toddler into the hallway while calling for help.

The toddler's mother performed CPR for about a minute before he regained consciousness. The toddler was taken to a local emergency room and is expected to recover.

There will not a criminal investigation of the incident, however the sheriff's office says they are working on contacting the 12-year-old hero and hoping to follow-up with his information to properly recognize him for his life-saving efforts.
