GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- More than a thousand people spent time at the Grand Rapids Public Museum for its annual fundraising event.
The characters are museum volunteers and high school theatre students who dressed up for a "Night At Your Museum." Based upon the similarly named 2006 movie and 2009 sequel, guests paid to watch exhibits come to life in the museum.
The non-profit organization relies heavily on this event to help fund future educational programs. Chris Carron, Dir. Education & Research, says "People from outside of the city come here and always tell us what an amazing msueum and even what a surprise it is to find something of this caliber in a city like Grand Rapids."
He adds, "It allows people to enjoy and see that museums aren't stuffy old places. They're fun, active places that you can go and learn and be with your family and have a great time."
The fundraiser brought in more than $20,000.
