LANSING, Mich. (AP/WZZM) -- Michigan education officials revealed the list of the lowest-performing 5 percent of schools in the state today.

Schools on the list have about 90 days to submit a turnaround plan to state officials. Those that are rejected could wind up under state control in a statewide school reform district.

In West Michigan, Grand Rapids Union High School, Lee High School in the Godfrey-Lee District of Wyoming, Kent City High School, Lakeview High School in Montcalm County, and Muskegon Heights High School, were on the list.  The Millwood Middle School and the Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts in Kalamazoo were also on the list.  92 schools were on the list state-wide.  To see the complete list, click here.

Michigan's academic reform office could end up in charge of several individual schools or several schools within a district, depending on whether improvement plans are accepted or rejected.

The school takeover plan is one of several changes signed into state law earlier this year.
