GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - If you are reading this, you've probably noticed some great changes around your computer screen.
The new WZZM13.com launched overnight -- though the Gun Lake Casino beat us to the punch. The two events were not planned to coincide.
The new homepage is much cleaner, easier to read, and easier to navigate. Hopefully, it opened faster for you, too.
You will still find all of your important news, weather and information. If you scroll down the center of the homepage, you will find modules of Grand Rapids news, Lakeshore news, 13 On Your Side, Watercooler and more.
By clicking on the Weather tab in the top bar or on the icons at the top of the right hand column, you'll see all the great weather information, links and forecasts from the On Target Weather Team.
Something else we hope you notice right away is the abundance of video on the homepage. Stories that have video will be prominently featured along with the most recent updates.
Click into a story and you'll also notice that the story pages are now much easier to read and are most logically plotted out. Video will always lead if available.
One thing you will notice on a story page is that comments for each story do not appear on the story page. Comments are still welcome and we invite you to add your thoughts, but if you don't wish to see the comments you won't have too. Just click on the comments link at the bottom of the story and go chat away. Your login from the old site will still work and you can still register to become a member at the top of the home page.
Back on the home page, breaking news, streaming video and weather alerts will all still be front and center when conditions warrant. The live noon newscast stream and chat will continue as well.
If you can't find something that you were used to checking out before the change, scroll all the way to the bottom of the home page and check out the site map. There, every page of WZZM13.com is indexed and available at a click. The search bar at the top of the page is still your best way of searching through for specific stories.
Also at the bottom of the home page is a collection of useful links that you can use to get in touch with us, get directions to the station, schedule a tour, check out job postings, etc.
If you are a user of the mobile web, you will notice that our mobile site has had an upgrade too. Check it out on your mobile device at http://m.wzzm13.com .
So, take a look around and you can let us know what you think in the comments section or on our Facebook page. If you can't find something that you used to see, let us know and we'll see if it was "forgotten" in the switch over.
One thing we will let you know - we won't be going back to the old design. While it was useful for many things, it was also an old design, very cluttered, slow, and from the feedback we got from you, often gave people headaches.
We realize change isn't easy, but we believe that this is for the best.
