ESPN to air documentary on Wes Leonard

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) It was only two months ago when Fennville basketball star, Wes Leonard collapsed on the court right after making the game winning shot.

It's the heart-wrenching story that continues to capture a national audience.

Leonard died on March 3rd, moments after leading his Blackhawk team to a perfect regular-season record.

The story surrounding Leonard, his team, and hometown captured national attention as the Blackhawks then won three playoff games in the midst of his funeral. Fennville lost in the regional semi-final.

On Sunday, ESPN will air a documentary on the life and death of the Fennville basketball star.

The "Outside the Lines," documentary called "Never Forgotten: Wes Leonard," will air at 9 am, Sunday May 15th on ESPN.

Leonard's family is also planning to launch a website this weekend to raise awareness of student heart issues and to raise money so that high schools can purchase defibrillators.

The site is currently under construction and is scheduled to be up and running on Sunday, May 15th.
