LANSING, Mich. (WZZM) - Art Van Furniture is kicking off the third year of its million dollar charity challenge to help groups across the state. It held a kick-off party Tuesday night at an Art Van store in Lansing.
The store chain put up $1 million, divided between 50 charities in the state. Each gets between $5,000 to $50,000. The money is aimed at groups helping children, health, and human services.
"We didn't know there was a need out there. Since we discovered the need, we've been able to get many other people to sign checks and help out. It's just a really gratifying feeling," said Art Van Elslander, Founder & Chairman of Art Van Furniture.
Art Van is taking applications this week for the groups seeking to receive the charity challenge grants.
