El Segundo, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Lakers announced the
signings of assistant coaches Chuck Person and Quin Snyder on Friday.
Person will continue to serve as the team's assistant coach under recently-
hired head coach Mike Brown. Person has been with the organization for the
past two years as an assistant, including LA's 2010 NBA championship run.
"I am very pleased to add Chuck to my coaching staff," Brown said. "I've seen
firsthand his dedication and his desire to making the players and coaches
better. The knowledge of the game that he has from his experience, both as a
coach and a former NBA player, is an invaluable asset that he brings to the
team and I look forward to working with him once again."
Snyder joins the staff after spending the last season as an assistant with the
Philadelphia 76ers. Prior to his season with the Sixers, Snyder spent three
seasons as head coach of the Austin Toros, a member NBA Development League.
He compiled a 94-56 record during his stint with Austin, leading the Toros to
three straight playoff appearances. In 2008-09 he earned the D-League's coach
of the year award.
"With the addition of Quin to my coaching staff, we've added someone who has
an extremely intelligent basketball mind," Brown said. "Quin's most valuable
asset, however, is his passion for coaching and his ability to get the most
out of the players he coaches. I am extremely pleased to have him on my staff.
Both men will join Brown in his first season at the helm in Los Angeles, after
the Lakers signed him May 31 to replace the legendary Phil Jackson.
