UPDATE (4 P.M. Sunday) Lowell Township, Mich. (WZZM) - Kent County sheriff's deputies have released the names of the people involved in a crash that killed two people.

The accident happened on Alden Nash Avenue, south of Segwun Avenue in Lowell around 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators say two minivans collided and a third vehicle crashed into the wreckage. They believe one of the minivans crossed the center line.

When asked if a lot of accidents occur in that section of road, Lieutenant Jeff McAlary said, "I wouldn't describe it as a problem spot. But because of the curves and the high speeds, when we have accidents in this stretch, they normally are severe."

One minivan driver, 66 year old Judith Christensen from Alto, died at the scene. Donovan McLaren, 36, was driving the other van.  He was airlifted to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Kristen McLaren, 35, and three children ages two to ten were also in the second minivan.  They were all hospitalized with serious injuries. The third driver suffered minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
