GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - U.S. Rep. Justin Amash, (R)-Michigan, says congressional Republicans will focus on repealing environmental and labor regulations that the party says drive up the costs of doing business and discourage hiring.
Amash, of Cascade Township, made his comments Monday in an extended interview with WZZM 13. The freshman lawmaker told WZZM 13's Peter Ross that some regulations drive up the cost of entry to an industry, putting upstart companies at a competitive disadvantage. The result, he says is "there is less innovation and product development."
In his interview, Amash also discussed his voting record, the impact of 9/11 and his being the third most independent Republican in the U.S. House.
