GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- Sometimes it's really a great thing to live near a school. That turned out to be true today for 15 families who live on Woodlawn Ave., SE near St. Paul the Apostle School. The families will come home today to lawns raked free of leaves. 22 sixth graders from St. Paul provided that treat.

"It's a trick to get 'em out of the classroom doing service to the community on a day when learning isn't at their best anyway," said teacher Kathleen Lowing.

She says the school has a rich history of volunteerism; this is the latest example of that.
