UPDATE AT 8:30 P.M. (WZZM) -- School will be out again Thursday at Pathfinder Elementary School in Fremont as the school staff cleans up after possible arson fires.

Fremont Public School superintendent Jim Hieftje says there were two small fires set around 9 a.m. Wednesday, but both were extinguished immediately.  He says there was more damage from the fire supression system than from the actual fires.

A toilet paper dispenser in a rest room was set on fire, as was a boy's backpack in a school mudroom.

The Fremont Fire Department and the Michigan state fire marshal are investigating the fires as arsons.

FREMONT, Michigan (WZZM) - A small fire at Pathfinder Elementary School in Fremont forced the closure of the school for the day.

According to Fremont Superintendent Jim Hieftje, no one was hurt in the fire.

However, because of smoke in the building, students have been taken to nearby Daisy Brook Elementary. Parents are asked to pick up their children at Daisy Brook, because Pathfinder will remain closed for the entire day.
