Bob Dyrimple and Kathy Neal are moving by horse and wagon.
OCEANA COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) - An Oceana County couple found a unique way to move out of state. Bob Dyrimple and Kathy Neal are doing it by horse and wagon. The couple and their team of horses make an average of 15-miles each day. They recently crossed the Indiana state line and are now making their way across Illinois.
The adventure started in April. That's when Dyrimple decided to combine an old hay wagon with a beat up truck camper. Along with dozens of other parts from a Hart junk yard, he built one wagon to haul supplies and one to sleep in each night.
As for where the couple are going. They say the state of New Mexico is intriguing. Dyrimple says he's heard of a county in that state with more elk than people, and that's the kind of place he wants to settle.
Kathy is documenting the trip on a facebook page called slow road travel.
Most night Bob and Kathy park the wagons on farms owned by people they meet on the side of the road. In two months of travel police have only pulled the couple over twice. One time for rolling through a stop sign. The other for holding up traffic. Both Michigan officers let the couple go with warnings.
