RAVENNA, Mich. (WZZM) - About 270 people packed The Hitching Post in Ravenna Saturday evening, for a benefit dinner and comedy show.

The banquet hall owner's organized the event to help raise funds for the Slot family. The proceeds will help pay for the late Officer Slot's family to visit Washington D.C., where he is being memorialized.

"We started this charity organization about mid summer, and have been funding it ourselves till this point. With this event, dinner and accommodating, we've been able to raise a substantial amount, I think, for Officer Slot's family," said Hitching Post owner Paul Piccard.

Officer Trevor Slot's name should be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in May.
