NEWAYGO, Mich. (WZZM) - The father of a murdered Newaygo teenager is hoping a documentary about his daughter's death will lead to her killer.

"In the Dark" was shown Wednesday night, inside the Newaygo High School cafeteria.

In July of 1989,  Shannon Siders went missing from the Newaygo city home she shared with her father Bob. Bob says police, family, and friends looked for his daughter for three months. In October, a hunter found her body in the Manistee National Forest, in a place where teenagers were known to drink and party.

This week, The Michigan State Police announced a cold case team was formed to handle any new leads the documentary might trigger. The team includes state police, Newaygo city police, the Newaygo County Sheriff's Department, and the Newaygo County Prosecutors office.

Bob Siders says he believes someone knows something that could break his daughter's case wide open. He hopes the new documentary triggers that person to call police.

Anyone with information in Siders' case can call Detective Sgt. Scott Rios of the Michigan State Police at 231-873-3584, ext. 222.
