GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- A Grand Rapids school is getting a new life saving device after the death of a star basketball player from Fennville.

Grand River Preparatory High School received an automatic external defibrillator Wednesday from the Wes Leonard Heart Team. Leonard died from sudden cardiac arrest in March, after making the game winning shot. The heart team formed after his death, to save other young athletes. So far, the group has donated 13 defibrillators to schools around the state.

The Wes Leonard Heart Team will hold a Red Out fundraiser January 6 at Fennville High School. All proceeds will go to four new defibrillators for local schools.
