Public gets to vote for LaughFest award

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids' LaughFest is up for a national comedy award and the best part about it is the public gets to vote.

Laughspin magazine, an online publication, that calls itself the online hub for all things comedy has LaughFest as a nominee in the magazine's 2011 Readers' Choice award for favorite comedy festival.

According to the website,, there are 11 categories including like favorite standup comedian, favorite comedy show, favorite animated comedy show, etc.

In the category of favorite comedy festival LaughFest is going up against festivals in New York City, San Francisco, Portland and Montreal.

Those wanting to vote for LaughFest should visit the website's awards page and highlight the button next to LaughFest and then click submit.

The public can vote for LaughFest up until the day the winner is announced. That will be Monday, December 19th.

The 2012 LaughFest runs March 8th through the 18th. Comedians including Whoopi Goldberg, Martin Short, Kevin Nealon, Sinbad, Mike Epps, Rodney Carrington and Jim Gaffigan and are among the headliners.

Ticket packages are available now through January 6. Individual tickets will go on sale January 13.
