GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) The City of Grand Rapids is once again offering Free Christmas tree recycling.

It's available at the following drop-off areas: Riverside Park (north entrance), 2001 Monroe Ave., NE and JC Family Park at 2531 Kalamazoo Ave., SE. You may bring your Christmas tree to any of the above locations beginning Monday, January 2nd and ending January 27th.

Residents are asked to make sure  all ornaments, tinsel, nails, tree stands and any other decorations are removed from the tree prior to recycling.

Remember to remove any plastic bags from around the tree prior to drop off.  The alternative method for disposing of your tree is to attach a $1.50 City bulk yard waste tag (purple tag) to the tree and place it in your pickup area by 7:00 a.m. on the regular refuse collection day.

Christmas trees that are placed in the refuse pick-up area must be properly tagged for collection. Residents with any questions may contact the Public Services Department at 456-3232.
