WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM)Wyoming city employees donated more than $12,500 to charity in 2011.
The city sent out a news releasing explaining that employees are presented with many opportunities to give back throughout the year, including annual giving campaigns and payroll deduction programs.
The largest amount of money totaled $7,600 and is used to help 125 children from 50 Wyoming families buy clothes and school supplies.
Additional 2011 fundraising efforts included:
-United Way campaign, which raised $2205
-Lady's Charity event, which raised $1627 for the Hospice of West Michigan
-Toys for Tots campaign, which raised $1100 in toys.
Collections were also taken up for the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans and for a local family through the Adopt-a-Family program.
