NORTH MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) -- A North Muskegon family that unknowingly bought a stolen dog online and lost it to its original owner has a new puppy in the house.
The Muskegon Chronicle reports George Grill of Muskegon County's Casnovia Township saw the newspaper's Sunday story about the family and offered to donate a Siberian husky. The puppy was delivered Monday to the North Muskegon family.
Mark VanderKooi, his fiancee Katie Fischer and their two young children had been caring for the original dog, which they'd named Buddy. VanderKooi bought the husky on Craigslist. Its original owner was discovered last month after it wandered away from home.
The dog was scanned for a microchip after being found and returned to his original owners. The dog, named Axel, had disappeared more than a year earlier.
