New jobs on the way to Holland

HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) In Michigan, the economic forecast is looking better.

George Erickcek, from the Upjohn Institute for Employment Research in Kalamazoo presented the economic outlook this morning at a conference in Holland.

Erickcek says 2012 should be a year of growth in the U.S., but the employment rate should stay around 8%. However in Michigan, with the growing success of the auto industry, unemployment could drop even further. Erickcek says locally, Ottawa County is doing better than the state and U.S. average and unemployment could drop from 6.5% to 6%.
