LANSING, Mich. (WZZM) - At the Capitol, reaction to Governor Rick Snyder's State Of The State speech was divided down party lines.

Republicans were positive.

"There is a lot to be thankful for," said Republican State Rep. Lisa Posthumus-Lyons of Alto. "We are in this together to reinvent Michigan and put us on the road to prosperity."

The Governor delivered his second State Of the State address to a joint session of the legislature Wednesday night. He talked about his administration's accomplishments during his first year in office and his plans for 2012.

"While we should be proud of the progress, much remains to be done," Snyder said.

The speech was interrupted frequently by applause.  Most of the Democrats did not clap.

"I thought the speech lacked any meat," said Democratic State Rep. Brandon Dillon of Grand Rapids. "I think it was a poor speech."

"I was disappointed he didn't give us a vision for today and also for tomorrow, for our kids," added Democratic State Sen. Gretchen Whitmer of East Lansing.

Governor Snyder said unemployment is falling, the exodus of residents from the state is ending, and the auto industry is rebounding.

Several times during the governor's speech, his Republican supporters rose to deliver a standing ovation.

"He just wants to do what's in his heart," explained Republican State Sen. Dave Hildenbrand of Lowell. "What he feels is right for the state and for the people of the state."

"He's very genuine," added Republican State Sen. Arlan Meekhof of Olive Township. "He comes across as very genuine because he's speaking from his heart."
