GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A front-page article in the New York Times is accusing software giant Apple of allowing Chinese workers to build its products in harsh conditions.

The story came out in Thursday's edition of the Times and points to possible cases of human rights violations.

We asked people in West Michigan if the allegations are changing their opinion of Apple.

Neil Evans says, "I think that the prices that Apple has are a little absurd for what you're getting and the fact its made so cheaply."

Amy Anderson says, "I care about people, but there are needs, so if I could make a difference, I want to know how I can do that and change it. But, I still need the product. So, that's my dilemma."

Scott Ramussen says, "I would say from a worker-friendly standpoint, if they don't have safe facilities, Apple should leverage their brand, in order to bring about better conditions for people who are bringing us these products."
