Niagara University, NY (Sports Network) - Justin Drummond led all scorers with
21 points as the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds took down the Niagara Purple
Eagles 69-57 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at the Gallagher
Center.
Drummond finished 5-of-11 from the field and 11-of-12 from the free-throw line
for Loyola-Maryland (15-5, 8-2 MAAC). Erik Etherly tallied 18 points and
Robert Olson added 11 for the Greyhounds, who have won three straight.
For Niagara (9-13, 4-6), Antoine Mason contributed 19 points and Juan'ya Green
netted 14. The Purple Eagles have lost back-to-back games.
Loyola took a modest 27-23 lead into halftime. Neither team shot particularly
well in the frame, with the Greyhounds connecting on 41.7 percent of their
field goals while the Purple Eagles made good on 33.3 percent of theirs.
The Greyhounds percentage from the floor sky rocketed to 68.8 percent in the
second half as they cruised to a victory.
Loyola held a commanding advantage at the foul-line, converting 24-of-30
attempts while Niagara went just 7-of-18 from the charity stripe.
