College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Terrell Stoglin led the way with 28
points, 21 in the second half, as the Maryland Terrapins downed the Virginia
Tech Hokies, 73-69, in an ACC matchup at the Comcast Center.
Sean Mosley added 15 points and Ashton Pankey pulled down 11 rebounds for the
Terrapins (13-7, 3-3 ACC)
Erick Green led the Hokies (12-9, 1-5) with 18 points, while Victor Davila and
Dorenzo Hudson each finished with 14 points, and Jarell Eddie chipped in 11
points.
Maryland shot 44 percent from the field to start the game and held VT to just
24 percent shooting. The Terrapins scored the first five points of the game
and led for the entire first period, taking a 32-19 advantage into halftime.
After the break, both teams shot 50 percent from the field and each made four
three-pointers. The Hokies were able to cut the deficit to just two. 71-69,
with 5 seconds remaining, but Stoglin drained two free-throws with three
seconds on the clock to secure the victory for the Terrapins and snap a three-
game losing streak.
The Hokies outscored the Terrapins in the paint, 34-20. Maryland outrebounded
VT, 37-32.
