Riverside, CA (Sports Network) - Ross Rivera scored 19 points to lead the
Pacific Tigers to a 60-52 victory over the UC Riverside Highlanders in Big
West Conference action at the Student Recreation Center.
Lorenzo McCloud added 14 points for Pacific (8-13, 4-5 Big West). Markus Duran
chipped in 11 points and Travis Fulton grabbed 10 rebounds.
Austin Quick paced the Highlanders (10-12, 4-5) with 17 points. Phil Martin
contributed 12 points and seven rebounds as UC Riverside lost its fourth in a
row
Pacific took a 26-22 advantage into the intermission despite shooting 32
percent from the field in the opening period. The Highlanders connected on
34.8 percent of their shots from the floor in first half.
The Tigers extended their lead in the second half by making 19-of-24 from the
charity stripe after the break. UC Riverside shot 42.9 percent from the field
and held a lead in the second half. Duran made a lay-up with 6:59 left to play
to give Pacific a 47-45 lead which they would never surrender.
The Tigers committed just 10 turnovers and forced the home team into 22
turnovers which proved to be the difference.
