Public Museum's February 4th DTE Energy Foundation Ethnic Heritage Festival Is a Colorful Celebration of Diversity

Grand Rapids, MI - With support from its namesake, the DTE Energy Foundation Ethnic Heritage Festival will be held from 9 am - 5 pm, February 4 at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. Visitors will receive free general admission to the Museum to enjoy music, dance, crafts, displays and food representing various ethnic groups that call West Michigan home. The Planetarium will present gratis Everybody's Sky: Star Stories from Around the World at 11 am, Noon, and 1, 2 and 4 pm.

Colorful and varied performances are scheduled throughout the day on the Meijer Theater stage including Bells of River City, the Imani Gospel Music Ensemble, and Philippine and Bosnian dancers. Members of ethnic organizations will staff display tables throughout the Museum to share their unique cultures with guests, and a variety of ethnic foods will be available for purchase. Guests over 21 can sample beers from around the world for an additional $6 from 1-4 pm.

Visitors can also view the Museum's permanent exhibit "Newcomers: The People of This Place" which highlights more than forty ethnic groups who've settled in the greater Grand Rapids area.
