Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Jordan Crawford finished with 15 points
to lead the Bowling Green Falcons over the Northern Illinois Huskies, 65-40,
in Mid-American Conference action at the Stroh Center.
Scott Thomas added 14 points for the Falcons (11-11, 5-4 MAC).
The Huskies (2-19, 1-8) were led by Stian Berg and Aksel Bolin, each with nine
points, while Abdel Nader pulled down 10 rebounds and scored eight points
before fouling out.
BGSU opened the contest on a 23-3 run, on their way to a commanding 41-16
lead at halftime. The Falcons shot 60 percent from the field in the first
half, including 3-of-7 from three-point range. The Huskies struggled mightily
with their shooting, making just 23.8 percent of their field goals and hit on
only 1-of-5 of their three-point attempts in the opening period.
After the break, BGSU cooled off considerably, shooting just 31.3 percent from
the field. NIU was little better, making only 33.3 percent of their field
goals, including 3-of-10 from three-point range. The Huskies could get no
closer than 18 in the second half, as the Falcons cruised to the easy victory,
handing the Huskies their sixth-straight loss.
BGSU converted 16 NIU turnovers into 14 points. The Falcons outscored the
Huskies at the free-throw line, 21-8.
