Charleston, IL (Sports Network) - Angelo Warner hit a free throw with two
seconds to play to give the Morehead State Eagles a 56-55 win over the Eastern
Illinois Panthers in Ohio Valley Conference action at Lantz Arena.
Drew Kelly, Ty Proffitt, and Milton Chavis scored 11 points each for the
Eagles (13-12, 6-5 OVC) who have won four of their last five. Warner added
eight rebounds.
Jeremy Granger scored 17 points to pace the Panthers (9-14, 2-9) who have
lost eight straight. Joey Miller provided 15 points and Alfonzo McKinnie 13.
James Hollowell grabbed seven boards while Austin Akers handed out eight
assists.
Morehead State led 29-25 at halftime after going 10-of-17 from the floor. The
Eagles were 4-of-6 from long range. Eastern Illinois was 9-of-22 from the
floor.
The Eagles led 52-43 nine with 2:49 left, but Eastern Illinois went on a
12-2 spurt to tie the game with 19 seconds left in regulation. Lamont Austin
missed a jumper for the Eagles with five seconds left and Warner was fouled
on the rebound. He missed the first of two shots but made the second. Granger
missed a three-pointer for the Panthers at the buzzer.
Morehead State shot 56.7 percent from the floor for the game.
