GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Security guards from Grand Rapids Public Schools got a front row view of Super Bowl XLVI -- but they were there for work, not play.

Eight GRPS guards helped with security on the field and outside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. They checked credentials, performed body scans, and were available to help with security at the NFL Super Bowl Village.

The head of school security says they plan to take some of the new skills they learned and use them at school.

"We feel like we had an opportunity to participate on one of the biggest sports stages in the world and surely we'll come back to GR and want to utilize some of the stuff we learned the last couple of days," says Larry Johnson.

Experts say there were about 90,000 fans who attended the Super Bowl on Sunday, and more than 136,000 security guards and police officers working in and around the game.
