GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Richard Frank Thomas will spend the rest of his life in prison after receiving a life sentence without the possibility of parole Thursday.
Last month Thomas was found guilty of killing Elijah "Todd" Butler on October 24th of 1971. Prosecutors say Thomas was obsessed with Butler's new wife Geraldine Thrower.
They say he killed Butler when he answered the door four days after his marriage to Thrower.
Thomas has been in prison since 1976 when he was found guilty of murdering Robert Groothuis during a robbery of Groothuis' service station.
