Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Antwaine Wiggins scored 25 points and pulled
down 10 rebounds, as the College of Charleston Cougars claimed an 86-78
victory over Southern Conference South Division-leading Davidson at TD Arena.
Nori Johnson added 17 points and Trent Wiedeman scored 16 to help the Cougars
(16-10, 8-7 SoCon) avenge an 18-point loss at Davidson three weeks ago. Andrew
Lawrence added 11 points in the victory, the Cougars' fourth in their last
five games under interim head coach Mark Byington. Davidson has now won three
straight meetings against Davidson at TD Arena.
The Wildcats (19-6, 13-2) had won four in a row and 12 of their last 13
entering today's contest, but they could not keep pace with the hot-shooting
Cougars. De'Mon Brooks led the way with 25 points and nine boards in the
setback. Chris Czerapowicz scored 15 off the bench, Jake Cohen had 13 points,
and Nik Cochran scored 12 in a losing effort.
Charleston buried 6-of-10 three-pointers in the first half to claim a 38-33
halftime lead.
Both teams picked up the pace in the second stanza, but it was a 20-of-26
effort by Davidson at the foul line that helped keep the Wildcats at bay.
Davidson shot just 39 percent from the floor while playing its fifth game in a
10-day stretch.
