GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Pete Hoekstra appears to be the overwhelming Republican favorite to challenge Democratic incumbent Senator Debbie Stabenow in the November General Election.

WZZM 13 News, in a partnership with WDIV-TV Detroit and the Detroit News, commissioned the election poll from the Glengariff Group.

The survey polled 500 registered Michigan voters who said they were likely to vote in the February 28th Republic Presidential Primary Election.

The poll asked, "If the primary election for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate were held today and the candidates were (in rotating order) Clark Durant, Gary Glenn, Randy Hekman, Pete Hoekstra, Peter Konetchy, and Chuck Marino, who would you vote for to be the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate?"

Pete Hoekstra captured more than half of the support.  None of the other candidates exceeded 5%.
