GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- Are you still looking for a way to treat the sweetie in your life after Valentine's Day?
There's a fun event happening Friday that you may want to consider. The "Very Sweet Charity" event will take place at Bar Divani from 8-11 p.m. It's a fundraiser for Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and will feature the sounds of smooth jazz, a silent auction and of course delicious desserts.
In the past, this charity event brought in as much as $12,000.
The idea came from a group of young professionals known as Leading for Our Kids. The group works to raise money to help the sustainability of programs and services at HDCH.
Jen Garcia, Development Coordinator at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Foundation says, "Leading For Our Kids has been in place for about five years fundraising on behalf of the hospital. So, it's a great event - it's a fun time to get some desserts and a good excuse to come out on a Friday night and support a great cause."
She adds, "Fundraising, philanthropy, (that) kind of help fills that void like Child Life Services, bereavement services, pastoral care and some of our annual camps like asthma camp and burn camp. So, those are things not covered by insurance that if they weren't here it wouldn't be such a wonderful place for kids to come to receive world class health care."
Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at the door.
All funds raised will benefit Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.
