GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-More than 7,500 people came out to watch Darth Vader drop the puck as part of the Grand Rapids Griffins' Star Wars night.
WZZM-13's Brent Ashcroft organizes the event each year, inviting dozens of die hard fans, dressed and ready to play their roles. Aaron Combs spent six months making his costume.
"I have a hard time moving five feet without 3,000 kids who want me to stop for a picture. But it's a good thing," Combs said Saturday night.
Proceeds from Star Wars night will go to the Grand Rapids Griffins Youth Foundation.
