COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM) -- The Mega Millions jackpot has reached a record for the multi-state lottery -- $500 million -- and its drawing ticket purchases from everyone from office pools to individual buyers.
We found many people buying tickets at one local store that dubs itself the luckiest convenience store in Michigan.
After seven lotto wins, workers at Party World on Alpine Ave. NW said they are hoping to celebrate another jackpot.
Jeannie Piccard drove two and a half hours to the store in hopes of winning big.
"It's very, very wise to come here," Piccard said.
Nearly every ticket buyer we talked to was part of a workplace pool. Staff members from Wyoming's district court chipped in $200 worth of tickets.
"There may be no courthouse open next week," court worker Nelson Santa Maria said jokingly.
Most people we interviewed said they're hoping to win the large jackpot so they could retire. Many said they only entered into the drawing because they hope to quit their job.
