ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) - The Allegan County Sheriff's Department is offering boater's safety courses this spring.
The first one is Monday, May 7 and Tuesday, May 8 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wayland Middle School cafeteria. Participants must register and attend both nights. Anyone 12 years and older can attend for an eight dollar fee. Bring a pencil.
Upon completion of the course you will receive a boating certificate. Call 239-792-9153 or visit the Wayland Union Schools website to register.
Other boater safety courses in Allegan County this summer are:
Saturday, May 19th, from 10:10am to 4:10pm at the Allegan township hall. Register on line at the Miner Lake website. Registration is required and the class is limited to 40 people.
Saturday, June 2nd, from 8:10am to 2:10pm at the Green Lake Calvary Church located at 608 145th Ave., in Caledonia. No registration required just arrive before 8:10am. Bring a sack lunch and a pencil.
Saturday, June 9th, from 8:10am to 2:10pm at Sandy Pines Resort. Register on line by e-mailing Mary at email@example.com or calling her at (616) 896-8318 to register. Registration is required. Bring a sack lunch and a pencil.
Saturday, June 16th 8:10am to 2:10pm at the Otsego Public Library. Register online at the Allegan County Sheriff's website. The class is limited to 50 people, registration is required to attend. Bring a sack lunch and a pencil.
Wednesday, June 20th and Thursday, June 21st and Wednesday, July 11th and Thursday, July 12th from 6:10pm to 9:10pm at Saugatuck Yacht Club. Register online at the Allegan County Sheriff's website. Class size is limited to 30 people, must register to attend. Bring a pencil.
Boater's safety certificates are required for persons 12-15 years of age who wish to operate a motorboat in Michigan without restrictions.
